- one belted kingfisher
- 6 rabbits, one of them an adorable wee kitten!
- several mountain chicadees, red-winged blackbirds, mallards, great blue herons, eastern kingbirds and killdeer(s), and squirrels.
- countless cliff swallows, robins, crows, starlings, doves, sparrows, common grackles.
- the ubiquitous prairie dogs
- I'm learning how to really savor the little kamikaze bugs, when they don't end up in my wind pipe.

I once got sucked into a website that talked about "wild children" who were kept in rooms or with dogs or in chicken hutches, how they lived and were discovered and how damaged they were. But there was nothing about generations of children being raised like that.
